This is such a brilliant way of looking at it and I’m really looking forward to this series. Feels so affirming to have your fears around writing acknowledged, so thank you!
I think maybe I’ll sit down and watch rite a list of all the reasons I’m not writing (my fears), and then at least I can get them out from the dark cupboards of my brain and onto a page
If these are the only words I write today, it'll be worth it to tell you what an excellent piece this is! Love what you have to say about the amygdala!
Thank you, this is wonderful and put a big smile on my face "It sounds dramatic but then so is your lovely brain." Honestly a fabulous insight and one I'm going to carry with me.
haha - I learned from Dr Sharie Coombes' excellent children's books that the amygdala is like a slightly daft but very keen guard dog. It's made me feel very fond of my brain!
Oh so true! There is something dangerous in writing - and then publishing it! However as you say there are so many other mental energy sponges it can be a real effort of will some days. Then that can feel untrue somehow, to the spirit of creativity. The struggle is real.
[insert row of clap emojis!] [but do as writing instead, because. and because I don’t know if emojis work on Substack!] Ra ra to all of this. And especially the caption about the pimped - sorry, typo! - pUmped miracle-workers :)

Thank you, Caitlin. The fear is real and it's only scarier when we feel alone.
THANK YOU
LOVE to you.
It’s like you wrote it just for meeee

That is SUCH courage. I'm here if you want to share anything that comes up.

If you ever have the chance to read Dr Sharie Coombes' kids books she depicts the amygdala as a dog called Bob!!

I've been thinking about this a lot - about how creativity is 'meant' to be and feel. I wonder if it's another thing that gets in the way!
Of course it is. The dogmatic religion of "should" drowning out the mythological flow of creation. :-)

Haha - you're excellent. PLUS very good at making all this make sense.
